Wash & Learn Initiative

Logo Design & Brand Development, Business & Marketing Materials

The Wash & Learn Initiative (WALI) is a Libraries Without Borders program that brings learning libraries to community laundromats. The focus of the organization is to increase both the availability and accessibility of information by meeting people where they are, at their local laundromat.

THE CHALLENGE

WALI was founded with a vision of transforming community laundromats into informal learning spaces where patrons can access high-quality learning and literacy materials as they wait for their clothes to wash and dry. Allister Chang, Executive Director of Libraries Without Borders , first learned about our work supporting non profit organizations through  The Nantucket Project  TNP Scholars Program. He came to us to design a logo for the recently developed literacy program which would enable him to establish partnerships with other nonprofit organizations, secure necessary funding, and engage with laundromats to implement WALI programming.

"Moor Studio helped the education non-profit Libraries Without Borders develop a logo for a new program. The design process was dynamic and engaging. The Moor Studio team helped us capture the shared vision of a wide diversity of stakeholders. Not only did they create an excellent logo, but in the process, helped us shape and articulate a more coherent strategy for the entire project."

– Allister Chang, Executive Director

SOLUTIONS

Our goal was to design a flexible brand identity system that would empower WALI to market its message across all media, and identify laundromats that offer WALI programming. The tone of the new logo is both professional and approachable, able to stand alongside national and global literacy organizations while feeling friendly and inclusive. The identity design graphically alludes to both a laundry machine and a sense of access and connectivity.
