Women’s Development Corporation (WDC) is one of the largest nonprofit housing developers in Rhode Island, with Housing Opportunities Corporation (HOC) serving as their property management arm. Together they reclaim and restore historic buildings, construct and manage new, energy efficient housing, revitalize neighborhoods, and provide rental and home ownership opportunities.
THE CHALLENGE
WDC was founded in 1979 by professional women with expertise in architecture and design, community planning and historic preservation. HOC was formed to maintain their properties and serve their tenants. Their script wordmark and outdated website did not represent their role as an innovative force in the design, development, construction and management of low-to-moderate income housing
SOLUTIONS
We began by designing a flexible identity system that co-brands WDC and HOC while also enabling each organization to market their services independently. The modern wordmark and bold iconography reflects their position alongside other large development corporations in New England. We then designed and developed a new mobile friendly website that highlights their services and showcases their portfolio of projects while providing up to date information to existing and prospective tenants.
